Manual Therapy in Muttenz

Specific examination and treatment of the musculoskeletal system

What is manual therapy?

Manual therapy helps with back, neck, joint and muscle pain – whether caused by overuse, an accident or an illness.

Treatment starts with a thorough case history and examination: targeted tests show us which structures are causing your complaints. We then treat you with specific hands-on techniques – improving the mobility of the spine and joints, releasing restrictions and muscle tension, and so relieving pain.

Literally, manual therapy means “treatment with the hands”. Active training is just as important, though: every session combines hands-on techniques with targeted exercises that you can continue at home. Our concepts are scientifically grounded and continuously developed.

Techniques

Manual techniques include gentle joint mobilisation and – where appropriate – short, quick impulses (manipulation). They improve mobility, relax muscles, promote circulation and reduce pain.

We decide which technique is right after the examination – always based on a sound understanding of the underlying mechanisms.

Exercise and activity

Research is clear: activity and exercise are crucial for lasting recovery. That is why a substantial part of every session is active – with exercises, an individual home programme and, if needed, supervised training in our training centre.

Patient education

We explain clearly what lies behind your complaints and what you can do yourself. This knowledge gives you confidence and is an important part of treatment.
