What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic manual therapy that combines experiential knowledge with modern science. Based on a detailed understanding of anatomy, physiology and neurology, the osteopath looks at your complaints in context – with the aim of finding the cause and restoring the body’s balance in the long term.

How does osteopathy work?

In osteopathy, functional disorders are examined and treated with the hands. After a detailed interview and examination, the osteopath looks for movement restrictions and connections between different regions of the body and treats them in a targeted way to support the body’s self-regulation. Treatments usually take place about a week apart.

Osteopathy was founded by A. T. Still (1828–1917). Modern osteopathy combines this experiential knowledge with current scientific evidence. Our osteopath is recognised by the Swiss EMR register – so many Swiss supplementary insurers contribute to the costs.
